Several years ago Chris had read a book by Stephen Turoff and had also obtained a video of his. Her interest in psychic surgery had been aroused at that time, but not much thought had been given since, until:

Over a period of as few weeks Stephen Turoff had been mentioned within the Bristol Spirit Lodge circle on several occasions. Things then seemed to 'come to a head' and, after an e-mail exchange with Stephen, Chris spoke with him on the phone. Arrangements were subsequently made for herself, Alan, Phil and Shirley to stay overnight at the Miami Hotel in Chelmsford on September 22nd, before each having appointments with Stephen at the Danbury Clinic the following morning.

Our purpose for going to see Stephen was to experience and witness psychic surgery. Or to witness fraud were this to be the outcome. It should be noted that Stephen has been working for 40 years and no fraud has been detected, and no damages claimed. Chris has an interest in all aspects of physical mediumship. Alan, her husband, has tolerance of Chris's interest and an open mind to what he has himself witnessed during their time together. Phil has a life long interest in spiritual matters. Shirley, Phil's wife, has experienced spiritual phenomena and has an interest in healing.

On 22nd Phil and Shirley arrived at Alan and Chris's home at around 11am. We had arranged to share Alan’s car and to travel to Chelmsford in leisurely fashion, stopping part way in Oxford, to wander around some shops. It was a sunny day and we started our journey cheerfully.

After an uneventful journey we arrived at the Miami Hotel to be pleasantly surprised by the venue. Then, after settling in, we moved to share a pleasant evening meal in the bar area, before later retiring to our rooms.

The next day, on the morning of 23rd, we all four met for breakfast, this time taken in the restaurant area. Following this we packed our bags and left the hotel, before walking through to the Danbury Clinic at 10.10am.

Externally the Clinic appears to be a small bungalow, similar to the style of a pensioners residence. Inside the rooms are compact. The welcome is friendly, the ambience peaceful, spiritual, and familiarly energy filled. A couple of people were seated in the main waiting area; one of these being Stephen. Chris recognised him and conversation was exchanged. Phil was clearly emotionally overcome by the aura of the place, the photographs and religious representations being fondly familiar to him.

After a few minutes Stephen indicated for a young couple to move into one of the Healing rooms. Alan was then invited to go into a second room, which he did alone. Later Phil was invited forward, with Chris and Shirley invited to accompany him. These three shared their subsequent experiences. All four offer reports:
ALAN:
No witnesses present (see evidential photograph on left of screen)

PHIL:
Witnesses, Shirley and Chris. Chris and Shirley both saw scissors and a scalpel handle being 'apparently used' upon Phil's body. The manipulation was efficient, forceful and rather typical of a butcher carving up a cow...but without the typically associated blood.

SHIRLEY
Witnessed by Phil and Chris. The manipulation of Shirley's feet came as a bit of a shock. Loud cracking sounds were heard and the injection (given simply by a hand movement, without any instrument being held) clearly affected her painfully.

CHRISTINE:
Witnesses Phil and Shirley. Items were thrown into a bin, Chris felt things being 'removed' and heard them land in a bin. The witnesses confirmed this.

Chris, Alan, Phil and Shirley would like to thank Stephen Turoff for enabling their shared experience.

FURTHER GENERAL INFORMATION

September 24th:

Upon waking both Chris's pale red scar line and Alan's more complex scar had disappeared. Alan said that his fairly long established back pain was reduced, and he felt some pins and needles, which he describes as typical of having experienced half-an-hour of physiotherapy treatment.

Chris still had a feeling of slight discomfort where her scar used to be, as if a couple of stitches were still 'pulling'. Both Alan and Chris feel that Chris's hearing has improved, although not 'to normal level'...she can hear cats purring, and other sounds previously missed. Actually she feels this to be a mixed blessing. Being now able to hear traffic, crackling paper and distant TV sounds...she is considering the benefits of her hearing loss. Basically....the world is too noisy! So if things change again and her hearing deteriorates, she'll happily accept the difference : )

Later in the day Shirley 'phoned Chris to say that her foot had, unusually, shown signs of discomfort during the night. She also reported that Phil felt there was some improvement in his prostate condition.

September 25th:
Last night Chris went to bed at 8.30pm and was soon asleep. Alan joined her before much later. Both slept through til 7.30am. Chris feels that she is recovering from a minor operation. This morning she can still feel the 'slight internal stitch' as felt yesterday. Alan still feels some discomfort in the area of his operation.

Interestingly Chris received an e-mail from Jack Hunter http://www.discarnates.blogspot.com/ this morning, which prompted her to write in description of her experience (obviously her opinion may not be the same as that of others reading this):

"Although I tried hard not to have any expectations, I nevertheless feel shocked at the actuality of the experience. It wasn't as I'd 'expected'. I'd 'expected' there to be no pain....but there was pain. I felt 'something' being tugged out internally...and I felt the cutting procedure (although the pain in both cases was unlike that of a 'normal' operation). I guess it felt like a 'bad' dental extraction. Uncomfortable. I can still, if I move a certain way, feel an internal 'glitch'...as if I have an internal stitch. I went to bed at 8.30 last night and slept through til 7.30am (unusual). I feel that I am recovering from a minor physical operation. Alan feels a similar discomfort and is considering whether to play badminton this evening or not.

Neither of us knows what has been done. No claims were made at the time and Stephen himself does not 'get involved in knowing'. This is because he is not a doctor and is not legally allowed to perform operations. He cannot make claims or declare himself able to cure anything. So...those who offer themselves do so on trust. I feel it is a pity that mainstream medicine is the only type that is legally accepted as able to cure (with some success and some failures).

If Stephen's work was opened up he/Spirit would be able to tell us more about what is being done, and x-rays would be available to prove the case....it would either be proven trustworthy, or otherwise. As it stands no such validation is available. Potentially (if genuine) what he does is drug free, comparatively painless, an operation takes only 5 minutes, it's cost effective...there's no infection risk...and so on.

The same applies to others who offer other types of complementary therapy of course. However, in the case of Stephen Turoff, the nature of his work potentially offers 'quick' validation. An x-ray before and after treatment is all that would be required". However...the 'wider' implications need to be considered. How would mainstream doctors react to valid evidence of healing through such unconventional means? Also, would drug companies welcome such findings? I think not.

September 27th:

Chris: Today, I personally feel recovered from my 'surgery'. My hearing has improved, I am aware of this often throughout the day. Last night I noticed that the TV sound was set 'two notches' lower than previously, this was a clear confirmation of the actuality of an improvement. The other 'operation' was upon my stomach area, and this feels unchanged.

So...what have a learned, and was it worth going to see Stephen? I felt that the experience showed me what I went there to discover. I clearly saw the overshadowing of Stephen as Dr Khan took control of his arms and hands. I clearly saw the operation being carried out on Shirley's feet and I clearly felt my own operation being carried out. I have some improvement to my hearing as a result of Stephen's work.

Would I go again? Yes, I intend to go again. Mainly to see more as I remain curious. Also, were I to become seriously unwell I would go to see if Dr. Khan could help. This would probably be in addition to pursuing mainstream medicine.

September 28th:
Alan: The condition of my shoulder has improved, but this may be the result of natural recovery. The discomfort in my lower stomach area (Dr Khan had said that the surgery had something to do with a "blockage" in my liver) is difficult to explain. I have formed no conclusion about what happened when I saw Stephen Turoff.
Would I visit him again? Probably not. Unless I had a diagnosed condition that was virtually untreatable by mainstream medicine.

October 1st:
Re: Alan (by his wife): Alan has played badminton once-a-week for as long as I've known him. Recently, due to his shoulder pain, he has complained of discomfort both before and after each session. On Tuesday of this week he took the initiative to enroll with a new club that plays twice weekly. He said today that he may go to all three available sessions each week, and queried his need for more sportswear to be purchased.
With regard to his stomach area, Alan mentioned this morning that he has less 'wind' and spends less time in the loo...he said that his diet may have changed. As I haven't noticed any change to his diet I leave the reader to form their own conclusions. Chris Di Nucci

October 1st:
Re: Alan. This has been received from a specialist in nutritional medicine:
The liver's main functions are detoxification and bile production. Detoxification of all products occurs through a series of pathways. These pathways can be blocked making detoxification harder and/or less efficient. Symptoms of it are dependent on the degree of 'blockage' and/or the level of toxicity. The degree of symptoms can be affected by genetic potential and environmental factors. Symptoms can be general in mild cases eg, less energy, sluggishness, vagueness, achy joints and muscles etc due to circulating toxins irritating various bodily tissues or more specific eg certain named condition like ME, autism, arthritis etc. whereby there are so many toxins they are stored in tissues, as they have not been changed into a product that is easily excreted. An 'unblocking' of pathways can see a reverse of these symptoms as detoxification improves allowing better elimination of them.

The liver also produces bile. This is used in the breakdown of fats in the intestine. A liver that is functioning better will produce more bile and of a better quality than a sluggish liver. Therefore, the digestion of fats can be improved by improving the functioning of the liver. Improved digestion will encourage more friendly bacteria residing in the gut and therefore less putrification of undigested food stuff. Quicker transit and less bloating, discomfort and gas are often a result of improved digestion. The intestines and liver are very closely associated with each other in functions. A reduced functioning in one can lead to a problem in the other. A classic sign of a sluggish liver is constipation. It is often difficult to work out which came first, an issue with the liver or that of the intestine. Genetic potential and environmental circumstances also have a part to play in this.

October 1st:
Shirley: My foot has been uncomfortable during the night and at other times also. The reason for this is unknown. I otherwise feel fine. I would certainly go back to see Stephen Turoff were I to feel unwell in the future. I have already recommended him to two other people and passed his contact details on to them.
Phil: My prostate trouble has greatly improved since visiting Stephen Turoff. There has been no possible alternative reason for such an improvement. I would definately visit Stephen Turoff again were I to feel similarly unwell in the future.

December 2nd:
Alan: Can't explain what happened, but accepts that something very unusual occured when he met Stephen. Since a week after the 'operation' he has been playing badminton three times weekly, when prior to this he was playing once weekly and suffering pain to his shoulder that sometimes prevented his playing at all.
Chris, Shirley and Phil now feel little or no physical difference in themselves since their meeting with Stephen. All three remain convinced of the reality of the psychic surgery phenomenon though.

Psychic Surgery

Psychic Surgery

What might be happening?

This photograph was found on Stephen's web site. We didn't take the picture and don't know who did, but that is not an issue. The fact is, this photograph represents how psychic surgery was 'felt' to happen according to our experience.

We feel that this is how the phenomena presents. It is as if skin 'softens' to become more fluid, and that as the molecular structure is manipulated so a physical blending becomes enabled.

Scientifically we know that our body consists of 70% water, and we know that the 'solid' parts of us are constantly moving. Never mind any spiritual belief systems or science relating to metaphysics...quite simply the water and cell structure of our physical body becomes changed and renewed. 'We' are therefore in continual motion and our physical individuality is virtually or actually non constant.

It doesn't take a great deal of reasoned imagination to consider the possiblity that those with more advanced knowledge than ourselves might have an ability to work with us in a way similar to how this photograph presents.

The Native American Indians, and many others, were atuned to the 'natural order' of things far more than we are today. They acknowledged the continuing presence of their ancestors, communicated with them, and apparently felt that they gained valuable knowledge and guidance from them.

We generally use only 10% of our minds capacity. Might it not be possible for this capacity to become extended to work within the nonmaterial field in the same way as within the material field?

Who is to say that 'primitive' races were wrong and 'we' were right? Just how well are we getting along within our civilised material world?

Can we afford to ignore all the many and various things that we currently consider 'bizzare' just because the truth of the matter clashes with mainstream concepts? Sometimes bizzare things happen to be true, and are therefore worth investigating...
